11/9/2023 0 Comments Nature tessellationsTo achieve this, we build on the Principle of Three Units 26 (PTU), which defines generalized conditions for rigid foldability of degree- n vertices. Compared with existing methods 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, the approach offers significantly greater versatility in constructing origami structures, thus providing a universal tool for the discovery and analysis of rigidly foldable structures. We construct origami mechanisms incrementally and present a generalized approach to algorithmically design rigidly foldable origami structures with a single kinematic degree of freedom. Here, to enable design practitioners and researchers alike to explore the potential of origami for the design of metamaterials without restrictions to facet or vertex types, we present a computational approach for the design of origami mechanisms and tessellations of arbitrary size and complexity. Recent publications attempt to make the computational design process more efficient and intuitive by subsequentially extending a crease pattern with primitives, but are limited to quadrilateral patterns 24 and discrete sector angles 25 leaving most origami patterns inaccessible for possible applications in the design of metamaterials. Despite their successes, these approaches either solely address shape matching without guaranteeing rigid foldability 18 or target artistic origami 19, are limited to a set of well-studied patterns and vertex degrees 20, 21, 22, or incur considerable computational costs 23. In response, literature reports on a series of efforts to develop computational approaches to ease the design of crease patterns. ![]() While origami provided essential principles to realize these applications, the complex relations between crease pattern geometry and folding kinematics make the intuitive design of crease patterns difficult and confined to a set of well-studied patterns 17. ![]() Possible applications range across many scientific and engineering domains, involving metamaterials with negative Poisson’s ratios 4, 5, metamaterials with bistable and self-locking properties 5, 6, 7, 8, stacked 9, 10, 11 and multistable metamaterial sheets 8, 12, reconfigurable prismatic metamaterials 13, 14 and origami-inspired tube assemblages 15, 16. ![]() The special property of origami to fold into almost any shape renders their application in the design of metamaterials a conceptually promising direction in which advanced mechanical and physical properties can be configured based on the specific geometries a structure exhibits during the folding motion. An emerging direction to design mechanical metamaterials for new functionalities and complex behavior is in the application of origami. These properties can be controlled by changing the topology and geometry of the unit cell resulting in the purposeful design of cellular structures with advanced macroscopic mechanical and physical properties 1, 2, 3. The properties of mechanical metamaterials strongly depend on the spatial arrangement of their constituent base materials. Due to its versatility, the approach provides an inexhaustible source of foldable patterns to inspire the design of metamaterials for a wide range of applications. The versatility of the approach is demonstrated by its capability to not only generate, analyze and optimize regular origami patterns, but also generate and analyze kirigami, generic three-dimensional panel-hinge assemblages and their tessellations. We build on generalized conditions for rigid foldability of degree- n vertices to design origami patterns of arbitrary size and complexity. ![]() Here, we present a generalized approach for the algorithmic design of rigidly-foldable origami structures exhibiting a single kinematic degree of freedom. Although this makes origami a conceptually attractive source of inspiration when designing foldable structures and reconfigurable metamaterials for multiple functionalities, their designs are still based on a set of well-studied patterns leaving the full potential of origami inaccessible for design practitioners and researchers. Origami, the ancient art of paper folding, embodies techniques for transforming a flat sheet of paper into shapes of arbitrary complexity.

![]() In short: surprisingly good trackball, and great value for money, I recommend the Kensington Orbit with Scroll Ring as the number 1 choice for new trackball users and anyone else who wants a great trackball. It only has two buttons, which in Trackball-land is not many, but most people don’t need more than 2 buttons anyway, especially if you are not a professional or heavy user. With its small size it will fit on any desk and because it doesn’t have to move (like all trackballs) you will save a huge amount of desk space compared to a mouse. But even my large hands and long fingers are very comfortably placed on the body of this trackball. It looks like a shy little brother of the much more impressive and large Expert and SlimBlade, but actually is very smart and probably better for people with smaller hands. The ring rolls very smoothly without much resistance or sound and it is very easy to control the webpage or document’s vertical position that you are browsing.įantastic scrolling, nice layout of the buttons and trackball, finger-operated trackball: I really love this little Kensington Orbit with Scroll Ring. The large rubber ring has a grip similar to the continuous tracks of a tracked vehicle. The scroll ring is extremely comfortable and good, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this Orbit trackball scroll ring actually won a prize. Scroll RingĪccording to Kensington this Orbit features an “Award winning” Scroll Ring, but we haven’t been able to find out yet which award it won. I personally never use these wrist rests (the Kensington Expert comes with one as well) but you should try it to see what works better for you. This makes the overall length much bigger of course, but some people prefer the support. If you prefer extra support under your wrist, the Orbit comes with a removable wrist rest that can easily be attached or removed. The ball is held in place by the body, so during transport or if you hold it upside down, the ball won’t fall out. The ball is placed solidly in the device, and can easily be popped out for cleaning purposes. ![]() The Orbit with Scroll Ring has a medium sized ball: not as large as the Kensington Expert and SlimBlade, but bigger than the Kensington Orbit Optical. If you have never used a trackball, I would recommend a finger-operated one (see the list of other finger-operated trackball here). I prefer this kind of ‘finger operated’ trackball, but as I mention in other trackball reviews as well, this is a personal preference and if you are used to a thumb-operated trackball you might argue differently. With this Kensington Orbit, you can use your thumb for the left-click, index and middle finger for the trackball, ring finger for the scroll ring and pinkie for the right-click – that is in my opinion a great set-up which allows for much speed and accuracy. As a bonus, you can program an action for when you press the left and right button at the same time, making this a hidden ‘third button’. With the TrackballWorks you can program each button, for example if you are left-handed and want the right-click on the left. I got used to it after a while, but if you’re just switching to this trackball you will feel the difference. The buttons are large but compared to most trackballs are a bit too sturdy: it takes some pressure to click. Especially the scroll ring and trackball are both working very smoothly and are accurate. Installing Kensington’s TrackballWorks software (available for download on the Kensington website) is recommended though, since it gives you options to program the buttons and speed and direction of the scroll ring.Īfter using the Orbit for just a few minutes I was really impressed with the comfort and precision. Like all modern trackball mice, this trackball immediately works without any driver installation when the typical Kensington USB plug is connected to my computer. The materials are nice: solid plastic in a matte dark-grey, with the ‘metallic’ blue ball as a stark contrast sticking out on top. On each side of the body there are two large buttons. Around the ball there is a grey rubber ring that acts as the scroll ring. The body is very small and low, and the ball is held in place by a shiny plastic ring. The design is perfectly symmetric, so can be used by both left and right-handed users. When I opened the box, took out the device, and placed the blue, medium sized ball in the body I immediately felt that this is actually a nice device. On photos it doesn’t look that impressive. I wasn’t expecting much of the Kensington Orbit trackball with Scroll Ring, but was positively surprised. 11/9/2023 0 Comments Icd 10 for migraine with auraThe clinical picture then becomes clearer. Patients often find it hard to describe their aura symptoms, in which case they should be instructed to time and record them prospectively. Patients with 1.2.3 Hemiplegic migraine often have brainstem symptoms in addition. ![]() 1.2.3 Hemiplegic migraine is classified as a separate subtype because of genetic and pathophysiological differences from 1.2.1 Migraine with typical aura. When the aura includes motor weakness, the disorder should be coded as 1.2.3 Hemiplegic migraine or one of its subforms. Patients with aura symptoms arising from the brainstem are coded as 1.2.2 Migraine with brainstem aura, but they almost always have additional typical aura symptoms. The accepted duration for most aura symptoms is one hour, but motor symptoms are often longer lasting. When aura symptoms are multiple, they usually follow one another in succession, beginning with visual, then sensory, then aphasic but the reverse and other orders have been noted. A distinction between migraine with visual aura, migraine with hemiparaesthetic aura and migraine with speech and/or language aura is probably artificial, and therefore not recognized in this classification: they are all coded as 1.2.1 Migraine with typical aura. Conversely, patients with symptoms in the extremities and/or speech or language symptoms almost always also experience visual aura symptoms at least during some attacks. ![]() Systematic studies have demonstrated that many patients with visual aura occasionally have symptoms in the extremities and/or speech symptoms. Less frequent are speech disturbances, usually aphasic but often hard to categorize. Numbness may occur in its wake, but numbness may also be the only symptom. Next in frequency are sensory disturbances, in the form of pins and needles moving slowly from the point of origin and affecting a greater or smaller part of one side of the body, face and/or tongue. A visual aura rating scale with high specificity and sensitivity has been developed and validated. In children and adolescents, less typical bilateral visual symptoms occur that may represent an aura. In other cases, scotoma without positive phenomena may occur this is often perceived as being of acute onset but, on scrutiny, usually enlarges gradually. It often presents as a fortification spectrum: a zigzag figure near the point of fixation that may gradually spread right or left and assume a laterally convex shape with an angulated scintillating edge, leaving absolute or variable degrees of relative scotoma in its wake. Visual aura is the most common type of aura, occurring in over 90% of patients with 1.2 Migraine with aura, at least in some attacks. The aura is the complex of neurological symptoms that occurs usually before the headache of 1.2 Migraine with aura, but it may begin after the headache phase has commenced, or continue into the headache phase. These are now adopted in ICHD-3, which no longer has Appendix criteria for this disorder. The latter performed better in distinguishing migraine with aura from transient ischaemic attacks. Many patients who have migraine attacks with aura also have attacks without aura they should be coded as both 1.2 Migraine with aura and 1.1 Migraine without aura.įield testing has compared the diagnostic criteria for 1.2 Migraine with aura in the main body of ICHD-3 beta with those for A1.2 Migraine with aura in the Appendix. 11/9/2023 0 Comments Gemini movie cast![]() Everything else within the standards categories that I mentioned (set decorations, costumes, cinematography) are all fine, but none of them stand out of being noteworthy. What definitely stands out in the movie are the movie’s various set-pieces and locations, which sort of felt like a Jason Bourne motifs of various European motifs and locales. In its presentation category, Gemini Man looks pretty good and is definitely “on par” with the movie industry standards. Additionally, there are a few action sequences (most notable in the first and second act) that are well-staged and do create some entertaining pieces that actually do work. The movie delves into the psyche minds of both Henry and Junior (Henry’s younger cloned version of himself) creating a interesting take on the “double trouble” aspect that’s mingled with ambiguity and doubt. There are some interesting ideas that the movie toils with, but majority of the film is just bland and mediocre.Īs I mentioned, Gemini Man is directed Ang Lee and he certainly plays with some ambitious ideas, which the famed director is customary to interjecting within his feature films. Despite an interesting concept and solid performance from Will Smith, Gemini Man adequately meanders its way through a bland storytelling narrative. So, I went to see Gemini Man a few weeks after its theatrical release and to see if the movie’s hype / appeal was worth it. Like what a good movie trailer is supposed to do, it definitely got me interested in seeing the movie as it looked poised to be a solid sci-fi action movie endeavor. Personally, I wasn’t even aware of the movie until the film’s movie trailers were released, which certainly did highlight the movie’s story as well as the whole sci-fi “double trouble” of Will Smith’s character. To be quite honest, I really didn’t hear much about this movie when it was first announced. Of course, the brings me back to talking about Lee’s latest film Gemini Man. Still, despite a few misfires, Lee has a talent for cinematic storytelling with nuances of visual flairs and engaging narratives. like Hulk and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk both of which could’ve been much better. On the other hand, I think some of his movie didn’t leave up to their own hype…. ![]() Of course, I personally liked Sense and Sensibility as perhaps my favorite one of his, with Life of Pi being my second favorite. Sure, he isn’t reached a famed legendary as Stephen Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, and Francis Ford Coppola, but Lee has certainly cultivated a reputation and accolades within his feature releases. Henry crosses path with Junior (Will Smith), a younger clone of Henry, who’s been trained at the black ops organization known as GEMINI, becoming a top assassin with new orders from its head man Clay Varris (Clive Owen) to seek and destroy Henry.Īs I mentioned above, Ang Lee is certainly made a director’s name for himself. Taking off for safety, Henry unexpectedly forms a bond with Dani Zakarweski (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a fellow agent whose eyes have been opened to the murderous agenda that their government can exercise without remorse, and is joined by old ally friend Baron (Benedict Wong) as they attempt to understand who’s behind the original order. Unfortunately, the government isn’t going to allow his freedom so lightly, trying to take out Henry and his friend, Jack (Douglas Hodge), who’s killed while attempting to warn his pal about incoming threats. However, the years are starting to catch up to veteran, who’s 50-year-old and looking at his retirement, trying to slip out of sight and find solace with the simple life. Henry Brogan (Will Smith) is a seasoned government assassin, cultivating over 72 kills during his esteemed career, making him one of the deadliest agents around. Does the film find its entertaining rhythm or does it flounder within its “double trouble” premise? Now, Paramount Pictures and director Ang Lee releases the latest film in Lee’s catalogue with the sci-fi drama movie Gemini Man. ![]() After that, Lee went on to produce other films within a wide range of genres, including the 1997 drama Ice Storm, the 2000 martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the 2003 superhero movie Hulk, the 2005 romantic drama Brokeback Mountain, and the 2012 visual magic survival film Life of Pi. While he had previous helmed theatrical features, Lee’s certainly made his “big splash” (in Hollywood) with the release of 1995’s Sense and Sensibility, which he received critical praise in adapting Jane Austen’s tale to the silver screen. Film director Ang Lee has certainly made a name for himself in Hollywood as a visual storyteller within his various projects. 11/8/2023 0 Comments Macro keyboard kitSwitches, and more… Cherry Mx2A should follow up soon, we have restocks on some cool switches coming soon and one new switch as well as a few new AKKO Switches like V3 Cream and Piano Box switches, Piano switches have been a big hit so far!
